ESSENTIAL UNIT 2 (E02)
(What’s Happening?)
(August 2015)
Unit Statement: The student will describe classroom objects and activities. He/she will talk
about classroom rules and compare them to other classes. During this unit the student will
talk about extracurricular activities. He/she will compare people and things. The student will
also ask and tell how long something has been happening.
Essential Outcomes: (must be assessed for mastery)
1. The Student Will identify and use classroom vocabulary and expressions to discuss
classroom rules with classmates.
2. TSW describe people’s interests and obligations using tener + que + infinitive.
3. TSW discuss classroom activities and experiences using stem-changing verbs and
irregular yo form verbs ( hacer, poner, traer, present tense).
4. TSW apply affirmative and negative words to ask and answer questions and compare
experiences about classes and subjects.
5. TSW identify extracurricular activities.
6. TSW conjugate and use the verbs saber and conocer and compare and contrast their
uses.
7. TSW talk about how long something has been going on by using hace + time
expression.
8. TSW compare people and activities by forming comparisons of equality (tanto
como; tan + adj/adv + como; tanto(a)/tantos(as) + noun + como.)
9. TSW recognize the superlative in Spanish (el/la/los/las + noun + más/menos +
adjective) including the four irregular forms.
