We get some well known names from the industry to reveal which gadgets help them work their magic and give their clients a new look. Clint Fernandes the official hair and make-up artist for the Femina Miss India Contest says, My favorite beauty gadget is the heated eyelash curler. It works like magic to curl even the most stubborn lashes. It also opens up heavy lashes and works on fake lashes as well. It gives amazing results in the treatment for wrinkles. The Orange Peel facial with the Galvanic current not only tightens the pores, it erases many age spots and freckles giving the skin a youthful appearance. Namrata Soni, known for her work in films like ‘Om Shanti Om’ and ‘Aisha’ says, I love using eyelash curlers as they open up the eyes. Just use a little mascara after that and you will have your eyes looking bright and striking throughout the day. Sunita Motwani Makhija, Director of SCHNELL HANS, says, Kapil Bhalla, make-up artist for Kingfisher calendar says, The most important gadget according to me is an eyelash curler. Even if you don’t apply mascara, the curler will help you get a wide-eyed look. The gadget is a little complicated to use, but once you get used to it is the perfect beauty tool. Ishita Khanna from Sangeeta & Ishita Salon says, I am using the Wahl trimmer a lot these days for haircutting. Irons are also popular these days and so are blow dryers, which we use a lot while styling men. I recently styled actor Irrfan Khan’s hair for a magazine shoot where I used these three gadgets. My favourite for hair would have to be the Conical Wand. It is a versatile tool, which helps me create a variety of looks, be it for regular clients or photo shoots. For beauty, it would have to be the Micro-Dermabrazing Machine because it has a fantastic effect on skin and is the most popular facial treatment at my salons. It adds volume, texture, and also makes it easy to mould. Finally, the finish that a crimper leaves the hair looking very modern and ultra glam. It can create variations in hair textures and give such amazingly different hair movements, from curls to straight in minutes. I enjoy the artistic freedom it offers me. I love it! My favourite gadget currently is my limited edition GHD flat iron. Hair texture is the hottest hair trend. Big, bold, soft hair is what spells hair glamour in 2012. The slim, flat, sleek design of the iron allows me to create smooth curls, volume, s-shape waves (large waves), and tighter curls. Flips give versatility to my finished style, allowing me to create different looks on each client rather than just straight hair. Valisha Shethia from b:blunt says, Virginia Holmes from Fat Mu says, The scissors, comb and hairdryer are the gadgets I use the most to style my clients’ hair. Scissors and comb are for the haircut and hairdryer is to set the hair in place according to the look the client wishes to sport. Shu Uemura eye lash curlers are the best in the world. They’re award-winning and really curl the lashes extremely well. They are currently my favourite. Ajay Shelar, make-up artist for Bipasha Basu says, The gadget I use most is the hair straightener and that too from the brand I trust most – Nova. The effect lasts for 10-12 hours and that saves a lot of time and effort. Manzoor Khan of Manzoor Khan Salon and Makeup Lounge says, The eyelash curler along with mascara is my favourite. It changes one’s whole look. The curler opens up the eyes and makes you look bright and presentable. Finish off the look with a couple of strokes of mascara. You can wear this look both during day as well as night. Airbrush makeup is a good alternative to mineral base, especially in the summers. High-definition and non-comedogenic, airbrush makeup is very light and gives a flawless, barely there, natural look. It’s a great choice if you want makeup on for a short duration, though waterproof airbrush stays put for longer. Mohd Ismail Shaikh, known for his work in the television show ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ says, The gadget I use the most is the eyelash curler. The lead of the project I am currently working on, Deepika Singh, has beautiful eyes and this gadget helps me highlight that feature of hers. Ayesha Wadiwala, known for her work in PETA ads and owner of the website Eye-sha makeovers says, My current favourite makeup gadget is a battery-operated mascara by Bourjois. The best thing about the gadget is that you don’t need an additional eyelash curler as it curls the lashes as well as it coats them with mascara.
