Each one of our events requires
volunteers in a variety of roles.
Construction, painting, ushers,
seamstress, publicity—there’s a
place for YOU at SCCT!
Check the volunteer line on the
order form on the back page of this
newsletter and someone will be in
touch with you soon!
Helping build our spectacular sets is just one of the many ways you can

In Robert C. Shy, a theater—and history—were born
“The idea for a community theater
germinated in the mind and heart of
Robert C. Shy, who returned to
Shelby County High School after
serving five years as director of
education and programming at
Kentucky Educational Television
(KET).
He brought with him the belief that
a community theater has the power
to bring people together from all
walks of life in a way that enriches
lives. He believed that amateur
musicians, actors, dancers, set
designers, and writers who opted
for traditional careers could now
express their artistic leanings and in
so doing, create something very
special for their friends and
neighbors.” (Shelby County Yearbook).
That was 1977. On June 30 of the
same year, “The Music Man”
opened. After
“borrowing” various
local venues, it was
decided that Shelby
County Community
Theatre (SCCT)
needed a home. In
1981, through the help
of generous donors, our
present building was
purchased; more volunteers helped
with the design and remodeling.
Community support and generous
volunteers are the foundation of
SCCT. July 1, 2011, will begin our
35th season.
I wish I may, I wish I might, have this Flex Pass …
Yes, the theater has a wish list. So
do those theater lovers you know.
So why not grant two wishes at
once?
· Your BEST deal? It’s called a
Flex Pass and it gets you FIVE (yes
5) tickets, which are good for ANY
production during the 2011-2012
Season! Great for travelers, small
businesses, gifts, etc..
— Not enough theater for you? How
about season tickets? Buy them
all and you save 15% off the box

Your extra support helps to provide
quality entertainment, workshops
and children’s programming, and
improve facilities and amenities!
Receive 2 free tickets for every
$100 donation (good for ANY
production during the 2011-2012
Season!) Please see the back page
of this newsletter for more details.
And, the theater has two more
wishes: Gift Cards — to Lowe’s,
Wal-Mart, ACE Hardware, etc..—
so we can build incredible stage
sets — as well as Rubbermaid
storage containers (all sizes). As
always, thank you for your
incredible support and generosity!
