Communal Prayer: Republic of Mozambique Population: 23,405,670 Capital: Maputo Official language: Portuguese, understood by less than 30% (53 languages) Christians Evangelicals 46.48% 11.1% Challenge for Prayer Unreached peoples are still more concentrated in Mozambique than anywhere else in southern Africa. But this is rapidly changing, since many are responding to outreach. Most existing outreach is through Mozambican missionaries and pastors. The Yao of Niassa Province, along the shores of Lake Malawi, are 96% Muslim. Only about 2% are Christian The Makhuwa. Mostly Catholic-animistic (interior), Muslim (coastal) or a mix thereof, these six northern peoples represent nearly 40% of Mozambique’s population. There is a remarkable ingathering of Makhuwa into the Kingdom as a result of preaching, aid and miracles. Pray for the many thousands of new believers to become solid disciples in biblical churches. London businessman Lindsay Clegg told the story of a warehouse property he was selling. The building had been empty for months and needed repairs. Vandals had damaged the doors, smashed the windows, and strewn trash around the interior. As he showed a prospective buyer the property, Clegg took pains to say that he would replace the broken windows, bring in a crew to correct any structural damage, and clean out the garbage. "Forget about the repairs," the buyer said. "When I buy this place, I'm going to build something completely different. I don't want the building; I want the site." Compared with the renovation God has in mind, our efforts to improve our own lives are as trivial as sweeping a warehouse slated for the wrecking ball. When we become God's, the old life is over (2 Cor. 5:17). He makes all things new. All he wants is the site and the permission to build (Ian L. Wilson). We want to glorify the Lord and see His Kingdom come in and through Northway, transforming lives and communities, from here and to the ends of the earth LADIES MEETING: Ladies, please make a note in your diaries.
