South Pond Farms

Table of Contents
South Pond Farms is a beautiful property located in the rolling hills of Bethany,
Ontario. Restoring the century old barn took many years and was truly a labour
of love. Projects around the farm are ongoing, but a point of pride is our
traditional outdoor stone oven built by a local craftsman, which is a nod to the
silo that once stood in the same location. Here at South Pond, we believe that
local food is the best food. Much of what we serve is from our own gardens and
neighbouring farms, prepared with creativity and respect., We embrace a calm
connectedness in our little corner of the world, and this is what we strive to
share with all our guests.

Classic Wedding
A classic wedding at South Pond is the quintessential fairytale in the countryside. Walk
down the winding aisle through the field to the ceremony site overlooking the pond. Create
unforgettable photos on our seventy-five acre property while guests mingle outside by the
gardens and take in the scenery during the reception. Then make a grand entrance in our
150 year old restored barn before sitting down and enjoying a farm- fresh intimate dinner.
Continue the night of celebration with dancing in the barn.
The South Pond Classic is typically a Saturday night dinner and dance.

Officiant
Denise has been the minister at Little Britain United Church for 14 years. She loves
to do weddings and bring couples together. Her fee includes meeting with the
couple to discuss what they would like in their service as each service is
personalized to the couple. A package is also sent out before meeting providing
different ideas and outlining types of services. She will walk with the couple right
up to the day of their marriage. Denise loves being part of such a special day (and
likes to have fun as well!)

2) Who is responsible for set up and take-down of our personal items?
Our staff will set up and take down all of your personal decor items for a fee of $250.
The Bride & Groom are responsible for clearing out personal decor by 12:30 am
following their wedding.
3) When do I have access to the barn?
You will have access to the barn at 10:00am the day of your wedding, however,
delivery of items can be arranged to take place earlier that week.
4) When can I deliver my items?
Items can be delivered up to 48 hours before the wedding so long as prior
arrangements have been made with us. We cannot take responsibility or liability of
your personal items.
5) When can I pick up my items?
As we host multiple weddings on any given weekend, it is imperative that any decor
items be taken away the evening of your wedding.
6) Am I allowed to hang decorations?
You will need to provide a detailed description of what and how you plan to hang
items in the decor section of your wedding planner. It will be at our discretion as to
whether said items are allowed to be hung. Any items hung without prior approval
may result in a damages fee. No screws are to be placed in the walls or floor at any
time and the type and location of nails and tacks must be approved.
7) Am I allowed to drive to the ceremony space to deliver decorations?
No, unfortunately, the ceremony site is not accessible by car. You must provide a list
of what decorations you have for this area and arrangements will need to be made.
8) May I bring special items for the bathrooms?
Yes you may. However, there is not very much room in the washrooms to
accommodate these items. You may wish to use one of our tables just outside the
washroom for these items.
9) What if it rains?
If it rains, you can have your ceremony and cocktail reception in the barn. Typically
this kind of decision is made the day of the wedding, as the weather changes quickly
here in the hills!
10) How late are guests able to stay?
Guests must leave the property by 12:00am on a Friday or Saturday and by 6pm any
other day of the week. Please note that if you are having a Brunch wedding or early
ceremony, closing time will be between 5-6 pm.
11) Who’s allowed in the guest cottage?
The guest cottage is available for you and your bridal party ONLY to get ready in,
and/or for the bride and groom to stay overnight. Please keep in mind that it is small
and not meant for large gatherings of people but rather the private gathering of a
few.
12) How much parking is there?
There is room for approximately 100 cars in our parking lot. As noted in our Farm
Rules, cars may not park in front of the barn as this is a designated fire route and
blocks entry for other vehicles as it is a single lane (and we do not permit vehicles to
drive on the grass). All guests must park in designated areas only in order to save
room for others departures and bus drop offs. There is an area for buses to drop off
guests and turn-around.
13) Can guests leave their vehicles overnight?
Yes, but need to be picked-up by 10:00am the following morning.
14) If only want to have a standard open or consumption bar, can guests purchase
premium drinks separately?
Yes. We do our best to accommodate all requests.
15) Do I need my own insurance for the day?
Yes! Great question.
We are a fully licensed venue however, you will need to purchase your own one day
PAL (Party Alcohol Liability) special event coverage. Should you not want to go
through your personal insurance company (or if they do not offer coverage) let us
know and we can assist you.
16) Am I able to have fireworks or sparklers?
Generally speaking, no. There are farm animals in the neighbourhood and this can
be both disruptive and scary for them. If there is a fire ban in the township, then
these things are off limits. Prior arrangements with Danielle must be made.
17) Is there smoking allowed on the property?
There is smoking allowed in designated areas outside the barn and by the
washrooms.
18) Can I have Winter Wedding?
If you are looking to hold a small intimate affair please contact us .
19) Do I need a bus service?
Busing is mandatory to and from South Pond Farms. Since it is not possible to
guarantee guests will not drink and drive, we provide an alternate form of
transportation to make your special event worry-free for everyone. This service will
be billed along with other South Pond Farms expenses.
20) Is there smoking allowed on the property?
There is smoking allowed in designated areas outside the barn and by the
washrooms.
