STALKO SA-A feeder (Stand Alone Automatic)

S T A L K O SA-A Feeder
Stand Alone Automatic
for weaned piglets or finishers
How to make this happen? Use the new STALKO SA‐A feeder without nipples.
It is well known that the feed waste of a group feeder reaches an average of 6‐12 %. Farmers do not recognize this as it flies away like dust or falls on the floor and is discharged together with manure. However, this is what is happening in every pig stable. If you realize this is cash slipping away, you cannot leave it be. The STALKO SA‐A feeder eliminates this feed waste thanks to it’s patented design that allows for significant savings on production costs. It is clearly visible there is no feed is on the floor around the feeder. Even feed smeared on pigs’ mooth is left on the trough when drinking.
Water waste is not limited to a hot summer when pigs toy with the water nipple constantly but also occurs during the rest of the year. It is a factor to be taken seriously as it increases production costs. And as environmental regulations get intensified it will become more important. With the SA‐A feeder pigs cannot play with the water as there are no nipples. The AquaMaster water system maintains an automatic water level by refilling the drinking trough as the pigs drink. 1) Less water wasted equals less manure to be discharged 2) Reduces amount of liquid medication as less water is spilled 3) Less labor as there are no nipples to be checked The STALKO SA‐A has a very friendly design for animals. It allows weaned piglets to find water and feed immediately. Feed and water consumption are most comfortably. No need for the weaned piglets to get used to nipples, dosating brackets etc. Hence, the pigs will grow better from day one with a remarkable feed conversion efficiency (FCE). Feed does not stay under water long, eliminating the risk of water being spoiled. Always fresh water to drink. Maintains a constant trough water level Efficient performance with simple structure Easy to clean and service with zero tools

“BACK TO THE FUTURE”
We from STALKO would like to explain the most effective, the most natural and the most humane way of feeding
pigs with an unlikely high return on investment. A return that we no longer know, a return we came to ignore in our
current traditional ways of pig farming. A return that we ourselves have undermined in our "modern" way of
feeding pigs through intensification, modern housing and legislation.
A high yield is solely available by placing animal welfare, the environment and natural behavior of the pig on top
of the priority list. We will show you this, together with reduction of feed and water waste, can lead to a
remarkable feed conversion efficiency (FCE) and a faster growth.
Let’s go back to the origin of pig farming. Aspects of those days we came to ignore. Aspects that, over time, we
have forgotten due to modernizations and intensifications. Aspects that we still, even now, should learn from. In
modern intensive pig farming we, as human beings with our many modern techniques, have gone much faster
than the evolution of the pig itself. This is understandable but also very unfortunate. Our production has increased
but the core value, staying close to the natural behavior of the animal, has become significantly less important.
We have lost sight of that one point while that one point is precisely what will contribute most to an optimal
operating result.
The natural behavior of a pig concerning drinking and feeding has been totally disrupted by man. We let pigs
drink from a steel pipe with a pin without giving them a user manual. We let things like tabs, brackets and levers
serve food to pigs but in this case we do not provide instructions either, they just have to figure it out themselves.
Even though this method is so far from their natural behavior. A distressing example is seen among the unweaned
piglets. We'll put a nipple, a bowl and more things in the farrowing pen with the thought they could already begin
to learn how to stand on their own feet. All these things are no more than toys for the piglets because they always
have the tasty nipples of the mother sow nearby, where, at all times, they can and will get the bulk of their food.
However, once they get into the piglet rearing pen, the toys from the farrowing pen have now become a must to
find food and water. All of this is very unnatural for a pig (steel pipe with pin etc.). This is where we make a big
mistake. At that time the piglet, which now cannot fall back on those tasty nipples, only has the animal instinct to
eat and drink. The piglet wants to eat and drink as nature indicates. Where there is water, the piglet will drink. To
get to food the piglet wants to root. This behavior is induced by nature. But none of these aspects the pig will find
in traditional (group) feeders and/or drinkers.
The story above is one of the main reasons the SA-A feeder was developed. Using the STALKO SA-A feeder with
separated and easily accessible water and food the weaned piglets will start to eat and drink directly from the
start. This feeder has no nipples the piglets need to get used to. The growing results and feed conversion efficiency
(FCE) are truly remarkable. From day one. You would have to see it for yourself.
The STALKO SA-A Feeder has a different concept of overcoming the limitations of existing feeders. Traditional wetdry feeders are known for their significant waste of feed and water. With the STALKO SA-A this wastage is nearly
eliminated. The way this feeder does this is it allows the pigs to take feed and water in the same but separated
area without competition. The pigs cannot toy with the water as the AquaMaster vacuum valve system keeps the
water level the same as the pigs drink. The SA-A is available as a Nursery feeder allowing for forty (with a maximum
of fifty) 6 - 35 kg piglets and as a Finisher feeder allowing fifty 25 - 120 kg pigs to eat and drink.
