Prepare a short presentation on why you want to be on the exec board/ why you would be a good fit for the position; visual aids are allowed; please dress business casual if you are presenting Have a speech prepared and typed (regardless) so that it can be sent out to members who are officially excused from meeting; if you are unable to be at meeting but would like to run for an exec position you may submit a video to be shown or send your speech to the STAR account or an advisor and the advisors will deliver on your behalf Elections will be next general meeting, April 12 at 4pm If elected, the new exec board will transition with the current exec board April 19 Finance: Main Duties: keeping track of STAR’s budget and finding ways to fundraise for STAR such as the swim meets and lend a helping hand if another position needs help; work with the Student Org Business Office to use the credit card and track the finances Time Commitment: 2 hours every week for office hours, except will be busier when a swim meet is approaching (these dates vary each year) This position can be done with one person or it can be a co-position, it depends on your availability Membership: Main responsibility is to plan and execute the membership drives by: Advertising membership drive Reviewing or updating application Creating interview schedule Assisting with final selection process Managing communications with new members Time commitment is 2 office hours/week During the busiest times (beginning of fall and spring semester) plan to be in the office around 5 hrs per week. This position can be held by a single person or a co-chair (both have been done in the past) VP Internal Programs: My job is to organize meeting attendance. Receive emails when members: Missing Individual Meetings Can’t make any meetings Inactive for the semester Resigning Any questions on attendance or anything Respond to emails when members: Miss meeting Low STAR required 5 hours Dismiss members who do not meet attendance requirements Other assorted attendance issues Help other Execs when Needed Time commitment is 2 hours/week During the busiest times (beginning and end of semester) This position will be held by a single person Secretary: Main responsibilities are recording attendance at general member meetings and taking notes/recording meeting minutes for both the general and exec meetings. Time commitment: 1 office hour weekly to update attendance and write meeting minutes; help other positions as needed. This position will be held by one person Campus Activities and Events: Main responsibilities: Generating and coordinating social activities inside and outside of meetings Create speaker schedule for general meetings Organize participation in campus events (Homecoming, Dance Marathon, Festival of Trees, etc.) Assist with Senior Recognition Collect nominations for STAR of the Week. Time Commitment is 1 office hour per week with the busiest time during homecoming and end of semester (recognition) This position will be held by one person Hawkeye Host: This is a group within STAR that requires an application and interview. Applications will be included in the weekly email! Commitment for this position includes to every home game from three hours before the game until kick-off with benefits including a free meal and ticket to every home game Host football recruits and their guests to a meal, a tour of the football facilities, and to watch pregame on the field You don't need to know much about football since many also have questions about academics Class Hosting: Hosted to Class, Honors Preferred: Monday, 4/10 - Sydney Sauschuck from Port Jervis, NY, is looking for a class relating to Spanish, Pre-Law, and/or Human Rights between 9:30-10:20, and anytime after 1:30! Thursday, 4/13 - Mason Shriver from Glasford, IL, wants to be hosted to a class anytime from 10:30-1:20! He is interested in Biomedical Engineering. Thursday, 4/13 - Harper Truog from Leawood, KS, wants to be hosted to lunch (12:30-1:30) AND class (after 2:30). She’s interested in English. (Host to one or both if able!) Hosted to Lunch, Honors not Required: Monday, 4/3 - Hunter Koontz from Redondo Beach, CA wants to be hosted to lunch from 12:0012:45! He is interested in Creative Writing.
