Summer Reading Program
Welcome to the 2017 Program! There are four identical activity sessions to choose from: two on Tuesday and two
on Thursday (unless otherwise indicated on the calendar or below). Choose the one that suits your family best.
Special Guest Fridays are open to everyone, so bring your friends and family!
Reading Goals
To earn a prize each week, participants must reach their reading goal for that week. Suggested goals are:
Preschool thru Grade 2 —> 3 hours per week
Grade 3 and Up —> 5 hours per week
Use your Reading Record to record your reading time and book titles each week. Pre-readers may use Active
Listening to books/stories as their reading time. We will start cashing in our first Reading Record during Week 2!

Friday, June 9th: CITY of MILES CITY Construction Petting Zoo!
2:00pm
The City will be blocking off the street next to the Library— come visit the construction equipment outside, learn
about different vehicles, touch and explore. The entire program will be outdoors, so dress accordingly.

Tuesday, June 13th: MOVIE “Sing!”
2:00pm
We will have normal Craft/Activity time at 11:00am, and spend the 2:00pm time slot
watching a fun movie together (with refreshments)! CNADA helps sponsor our refreshments
during movie days.
Friday, June 16th: Field Trip to Stockman Bank on Main Street!
2:00pm
Meet at the Library BEFORE 2:00pm— we will be walking down to Stockman Bank for an official tour and to
learn all about what they do in our community. Parent/Adult volunteers are needed to accompany students— if
you are available to chaperone, please let Children’s Librarian Hannah Nash know. Thank you!
Friday, June 23rd: Boy Scouts at the Library

Boy Scouts will be leading us in building paper rockets that we will fire over the Court House!
Friday, June 30th: Woman’s Club Bird Houses
2:00pm
Students will make a bird house to take home and install in their yard. The Miles
City Woman’s Club will be on hand to help with construction and decoration.
Be sure to continue the fun in JULY ...

Storytime…
Continues through the summer, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00am. All ages welcome. Stories,
crafts, songs, fun all year round.

There is no craft today (craft session for the week will be on Thursday afternoon at
2:00pm. CNADA helps sponsor our refreshments during movie days.
Friday, July 14th: Quink with the Waterworks Art Museum

Education Director and Artist Mark Sanders will teach us all about Quink! We will have paint shirts available, but PLEASE wear play clothes, as this project involves INK and the INK will stain. Thank you!
Friday, July 21st: Sock Monster Construction

For our last Special Guest Friday, come make a sock monster of your very own. (Don’t worry, we won’t
use your socks!)
Our last day of programming is Thursday, July 27th at 2:00pm
