SWIM TEST
RECREATION SWIM
All persons using the deep water for swimming or diving must pass the following swim test administered by the lifeguards:
☼ Swim the length of the pool with comfortable breathing, showing consistency and forward motion
☼ Tread water for 30 seconds
☼ Swimmers who have questionable swimming skills may be asked to take a SWIM
TEST even if they have already passed the test before.
☼ All lifejackets must be U.S. Coast Guard approved. All non-swimmers and children
who are wearing lifejackets must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times.
LAP SWIM
All persons under the age of 18 wishing to swim in the designated lap swim lanes, must possess
a valid USA Swimming Card OR pass the following swim test administered by appointment with
a Head Lifeguard or Manager:
☼ Swim 200 yards continuously using any 4 competitive strokes of your choice
☼ Appointments can be made by contacting the Aquatics Office 510.655.5163
DIVING BOARD RULES
☼ One person at a time on the diving board.
☼ The diving area must be clear before attempting to use the board.
☼ Only forward motion jumps and dives straight off the end of the

To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all customers and staff,
the following POOL RULES will be enforced.

Walk. No running on the pool deck.

Bathing suits must be worn at all times by all patrons using the facility

Kickboards are for lap swim or instructional use only. Kickboards should be kept in the
Lap Pool , except when being used during Piedmont Community Pool Swim Lessons.

Swimmers who have questionable swimming skills may be asked to take a SWIM TEST
even if they have already passed the test.

At any time and without warning, the lifeguards will have the discretion to limit an activity
which may cause injury or inconvenience to others, as well as call for swim breaks.
☺
No one with a contagious or communicable disease or open wound is permitted in the
water.
☺
Families with children of opposite gender under the age of 6 are allowed in the locker
rooms.
☺
Lifeguards have the full authority over patrons using the pool area and may enforce rules
not listed as situations warrant.

☼ Lane splitting is perfect for when there are 2 people in a lane. Once a 3 guest
Help us keep the facility clean. No gum, smoking, alcohol, glass containers.
Please do not eat by the pool. No food or drink within 5 feet of the pool.
Jump in feet first. No diving allowed anywhere in the facility except off of diving board or if
otherwise designated by staff.
All children 7 years & under must be accompanied by a paid adult within in the pool area.
All guests entering the facility, swimming or not, must pay a gate fee.
Non-swimmers or children who are wearing lifejackets must be accompanied in the water
by an adult. All lifejackets must be U.S. Coast Guard approved.
Everyone must shower before entering the pool.
Toys and swim equipment will be restricted at the discretion of the lifeguard based on
safety concerns. No squirt guns, hard balls (tennis balls, etc)
plans to join the lane, circle swimming must begin.
☼ Select a lane that is compatible with your swimming speed. Lifeguards can assist
you if needed.
☼ Slower swimmers, please stop at the wall and let the faster swimmer pass.
