Dear Sponsors and Recruiters,
It is with great pleasure that we extend an invitation to our network to participate in our 20th Annual
Regional Conference, “Breaking Barriers: Rompiendo Las Barreras”. The Latino Medical
Student Association-Midwest, formerly the National Network of Latin American Medical Students
Midwest, proudly announces that our conference will take place during January 16-17, 2010 at the
University of Chicago, in Chicago, IL. The purpose of this event is to bring together Latino premedical students, medical students, residents and practicing physicians of the Midwest who are
interested in the healthcare needs of their communities. This annual event provides participants with
an opportunity to network with one another and expand their knowledge of Latino Health issues. The
projected conference attendance is over 200 Midwest medical student and pre-medical student
leaders.
Our mission is to help improve the health of Latinos, and our members are working to find real
solutions and to become advocates to benefit our communities. However, our goals cannot be
accomplished alone. We are asking for your support and contributions, as they are indispensable to
the success of our efforts. There are several ways listed below that you can help. Additionally, this
is an excellent opportunity for your Residency Program to recruit a very captive and diverse
audience of students culturally and linguistically competent for the growing Latino populations served
by your programs. Funds acquired through this request will be applied towards the current
conference and also to development and implementation of future regional conference events and
scholarships for students pursuing careers in medicine.
Please help us in our efforts, vision, and goals to provide an educational forum for Latino medical
students and those interested in Latino health care issues. Please refer to the enclosed donor sheets
for sponsorship opportunities. Residency programs and Medical Schools please refer to both the
donor registration form, and the residency program registration forms. If you have any further
