Inquire at the church office 423-282-6367. The Financial Report for 12/13 March will be published in our 26-27 March bulletin. Please be generous in your support of the Diocese of Knoxville Seminarian Education as they endeavor through the grace of God to become our future priests! Though we are one of the smallest dioceses in the United States, we are blessed with a rich harvest of vocations to the priesthood. Currently, we have 9 men enrolled in seminary studies with the hope of another 5 beginning studies this Fall for a total of 14 seminarians. But with this wonderful blessing, comes a financial challenge. The cost of educating just one seminarian is approximately $45,000-a financial diocese commitment of $630,000 this coming academic year! But your investment in the future of the priesthood is one that will help guarantee the growth of the Catholic faith in East Tennessee. When giving a donation, please use your envelope for “Seminarian Education” and also make any checks to “Seminarian Education”. You can now also use the “Online Giving” option! CORRECTION FROM LAST WEEK’S BULLETIN: During Mass, there will be a second collection basket that will go around for these donations. DESPERATELY SEEKING HELPERS! We need front office volunteers with a flexible schedule! Any time you can give would be greatly appreciated. If interested, please call the church office at 423-282-6367. We need help washing and ironing purificators and corporals once a month. We also need volunteers to help us do several chores in the sanctuary area on a weekly basis, such as straightening books in the pews, replace votive candles, change Holy Water, clean brass items, etc. This helps keep our church clean and organized for Sunday Masses as well as for our pilgrim visitors during this Year of Mercy. JUBILEE OF DIVINE MERCY, APRIL 1-2 We want invite you to attend a Jubilee of Divine Mercy here at St. Mary’s Church!. This pilgrimage during the Easter Season on Divine Mercy Weekend is designed to bring Catholic Christians closer to Christ in heart, mind and soul. It is our parish desire that entire families and all generations come together and learn about Christ's love for us. Renowned speaker, Jesse Romero, from On Fire Evangelization Ministries, will present this parish mission. This event coincides with the monthly jubilee Pope Francis suggested churches around the world observe on April 1-3. Since St. Mary’s is one of the designated parishes in the Diocese of Knoxville with a Holy Door of Mercy, visitors could benefit twice by attending the mission and fulfilling the requirements for a Jubilee pilgrimage. There will be talks in both English and Spanish. The conference is open to everyone, youth and adults, and the cost is a suggested donation of $10 per person. Baby-sitting will be offered for children 5 and under. The speaker will also have items for sale, such as books, CDs, etc. during the conference. Lunch will be a potluck meal at the end of the Saturday morning session. Please call the church office at 423-282-6367 to register. LENTEN REGULATIONS REMINDERS Good Friday is an obligatory day of universal fast and abstinence. Fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year until the beginning of their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have completed their 14th year of age (c. 1252). As always, anyone for whom fasting or abstinence would pose a health risk is excused.
