COMMUNITY LAW ENFORCEMENT ACADEMY FOR YOUNG ADULTS GRADUATION took place on Friday,
January 8, 4 p.m., at the Oxnard Union High School District Board Room. Congratulations Academy
Graduate from Rio Mesa High School – Jacqueline Alvarez! The Academy was established in March 1999
as a partnership between the Oxnard Police Department and the Oxnard Union High School District. The 60hour program is designed to provide youth with an insight to the law enforcement profession. Upon successful
completion of the program, students earn high school credits.
NFL GOLDEN FOOTBALL - In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of the Super Bowl, the NFL
has sent a Golden Football to each high school in America boasting a Super Bowl
participant. Rio Mesa is the only OUHSD school to receive one, honoring 1998 graduate
SCOTT FUJITA, who played in Super Bowl XLIV while a member of the New Orleans Saints.
We will be extremely proud to give the ball a permanent home in our trophy case! Brian
