Before you were even formed, God knew you. While in your Mother’s womb, God named you. At your birth, God’s breath filled you with life. We celebrate what you have become at this moment in time. And so we pray: God of our beginnings, We thank you for the gifts of these graduates; their excitement, their awesome wonder and curiosity. Their contributions have blessed us, and we have become a richer community because of them. As they step forward into the world that awaits, comfort their fears with the full knowledge of your divine presence. Strengthen their resolve to walk in the footsteps of Jesus as modern-day disciples in a world that needs their spirit. Guide their feet as they move through life, protecting them from the pitfalls of darkness while they help to lead future generations into the warmth and promise of your light. We ask this blessing upon each of them, In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. AMEN! For those who feel the stirring of faith and curiosity in their heart…. RCIA or the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a process by which the community initiates into its midst non-baptized adults, baptized adults from another faith seeking communion with the Catholic Church, and those preparing for full initiation through the Sacraments of Confirmation and Eucharist. RCIA is primarily a journey of faith that begins with wondering, asking and seeking; continues through hearing God’s word, studying, discussing, and praying; and leads to a commitment through the sacraments of initiation to a life of faith and love in communion with Catholics throughout the world. Please call Deacon Dennis Malkowski Office 951-302-3140 or cell 951-453-3340 Year of Faith Corner Weekly we will share the experiences that our Parishioner’s have experienced during their faith journey; Dr. Paul Locascio and Pamela Locascio Our children are Philip Locascio, Christina Larner and her Husband Michael. We have many wonderful grandchildren. We have attended St Catherine's since Sept. of 2000, almost 13 years! I am currently serving as Lector and have in the past served as a Eucharistic Minister. My wife Pamela also served as a Eucharistic Minister in the past. My personal mission statement is to do whatever is asked of me to help support the needs of the Parish ministries. I enjoy being a Roman Catholic because in this chaotic world of today, it is nice to know that having been raised Catholic since birth, the foundations of my beliefs are "rock solid", giving me a sense of spiritual security that can never be taken from me. Confirmation Prayer O Holy spirit of God; Take them as Your disciples. Guide them, illuminate them, and sanctify them. Bind their hands, that they may do no evil. Cover their eyes, that they may see it no more. Sanctify their hearts that evil may not dwell within them. You are our God. You are our guide. Whatsoever You forbid us, we will renounce. And whatsoever You commend us, in Your strength we will do. Lead them then unto the fullness of Your truth. Amen. Evening Vespers Please join us for an evening of prayer and adoration for our Lord Christ. This is a very special time of prayer and reflection during the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. Our next prayer service will be on Friday June 21st at 7:00 pm. APPRECIATING THE EUCHARIST For centuries today’s feast was called Corpus Christi (the Body of Christ) and was observed on the Thursday after Trinity Sunday. In many countries it has now been moved to Sunday, so that more people may participate in its celebration. In its present form, the liturgy of this day focuses our attention on the meaning of the Eucharist that we celebrate so often. Today’s reading from Genesis tells how “Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine” and prayed over Abram. Though it took place nearly two thousand years before Jesus, this event has long been used by the Church as an ancient foreshadowing of the Eucharist. The reading from Paul’s Letter to the Corinthians is the same one we hear proclaimed on Holy Thursday, retelling the story of the first blessing and sharing of bread and wine at the Last Supper. Luke’s tale of the miraculous feeding of the crowd in today’s Gospel is also clearly intended to evoke the Eucharist. Thus today’s readings give us three opportunities to deepen our appreciation of the Body and Blood of Christ. Kindergarten thru Fifth Grade Wishing you a Happy Mother’s Day! Juliana was a nun in Belgium in the thirteenth century. She served in a hospital for lepers. She became convinced through her prayer that the liturgical year was incomplete because it had no feast for the Eucharist. Her efforts were not welcome, and a supervising priest sought to punish her for promoting a feast that “nobody wanted.” He even had her accused of financial mismanagement and banished her from her convent. Shortly after she was exiled, the bishop approved the feast. It quickly spread through Europe. In those days, people very seldom received Holy Communion, and so the processions through the streets with the eucharistic bread not only led to an awareness of Christ’s hunger to be with us, but prepared the way for a deeper desire to receive Christ’s Body and Blood in more frequent Communion. The feast grew rapidly, but Juliana disappeared into poverty and a hidden life. She ended her days as an “anchoress,” a woman living in seclusion in a room attached to a parish church.
