B
elmont Primary School has
entered the West Australian
Newspapers “What’s on your
school’s WISH LIST?”.
On
Saturday, April 2 and April 9 a
coupon will appear in The
Weekend West. We need to collect
as many entry coupons as
possible through your friends
and family.
Each coupon
collected represents one entry
into the prize draw. The more
coupons collected the more
chances to win! The school with
the most coupons per student
will win $5000.
Paper Collection
Belmont Primary will now be
collecting newspapers as a
fundraiser. We will receive $1
for every bin we fill. Please
collect all your family and
friends newspapers and put them
in the bins located by the
gardeners shed.
Swimming Carnival
Next Thursday the Inter-school
swimming carnival will be held
at Canning Aquatic Centre.
Students who have been selected
for the carnival will receive an
excursion note today. The
BASSA with local schools will be
held the following Friday 15
April.
Prison Visit
Belmont
Primary
has
been
“World Water Day”
invited to attend a tour of Casuarina
Prison.
The prison made our
wooden tables in the covered
assembly area. Mrs Waters will be
attending and a parent is also invited.
If you are interested in attending
please contact the office. The tour
will be held on Tuesday 5 April in
the morning. Mrs Tero and myself
attended previously and found it
interesting and worthwhile.
Principals Movement
As in previous newsletters if I am
out of school on council business I
will inform you. I will be away this
Friday afternoon April 1 and
Monday afternoon April 4.
Bikes
It is pleasing to see students riding
their bikes to school. The school
does not allow students to ride bikes
without helmets. Please ensure your
child has a helmet if they ride their
bike to school.

March and begin our International Year of
Chemistry with the Global Investigation
with water. Thank you Dr Dino for coming
to help us with the launch. It was
disappointing that the media did not attend

can use for their assembly on Tuesday 5

Battery Collection
Remember if you have used batteries please
bring them to your child's class where
there is a collection jar. Room 3 weigh the
batteries to see which class collects the
most and it is announced at the School
Assembly. This is an ongoing activity
throughout the year. Also if you have any
other items that you would like to recycle
that teachers and students could use please
bring them to the Recycle Centre outside
of Room 3.

Rotary Community Chest Raffle
The P&C are taking part in the Rotary

participated in this in 2009 and it was very
successful. Tickets are $2 and the school gets
a whopping $1.50 from every ticket sold!!
Plus you might even win a raffle prize – 1st
prize is a new car!
Please place an order of how many books of
tickets you wish to sell (10 tickets in a book).
Order forms will be going home with each
student shortly.
Money, ticket stubs and unsold tickets must
be returned by Friday 10 June 2011, so there
is plenty of time to sell tickets!

Easter Raffle
It’s nearly time for the annual P&C Easter
Egg raffle. As in previous years, the raffle’s
success depends on the generosity of our
parents, so please drop off an ‘Easter’
Thanks very much to the fantastic mums
who have helped in the Canteen... Angie
Thompson, Hellen Thomas, Kim Gatsby,
Anthea Marrell, Sonja Murray, Louise Tero.
You are making such beautiful lunches, and
the kids love it. THANKYOU!!!
Donation - A huge thank you to Jeff Muir
for donating a fridge to the canteen. This is
making life a lot easier for us, and we really
appreciate your generosity – thanks again
Jeff !
Get Up & Go - The Canteen is having a
special offer on Thursday 7 April in the
morning. We will be selling UP & GO (a
healthy breakfast drink) for a very cheap
price of $1.30!! You can order one (forms
will be sent home), or just bring along your
money on the day. So start your day the

Mark Your Dairy…. In the last newsletter I
asked you to mark your diary that Canteen
will be closed for the swimming carnival.
The date of the carnival is now 15 April (not

8 Friday as mentioned previously), so
Canteen will be Open on the 8 April &
closed on the 15 April.
Kids in the Kitchen - Due to Health &
Safety reasons kids are not allowed in the
Canteen. Kids are also not allowed in
Room 8 (the classroom beside the canteen)
unless they are supervised by an adult in
the same room.
This means that
volunteers with small children cannot have
their kids with them whilst they are
helping in the Canteen.
We really
appreciate your help, but we understand
that people with small children may not be
able to help in the Canteen. In some
circumstances your child may be allowed to
play in the Kindy/PP area for a short time,
but it would be appreciated if you could
make other babysitting arrangements if
possible. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Late Orders - We are still having a lot of
kids forgetting to order their lunches on
time. So please do your best to get your
orders in by Thursday afternoon.
Lunch Order Bags - If you need another
lunch order bag, you can get them from the
box in your classroom.
Handyman - Just a reminder, that we still
have one major job to do in the Canteen.
We still need help with the flooring. If you
are handy, please come and have a look and
see if you can help.
If you know someone who does flooring
who might give us a good deal, please let
me know. Kathy Wade 0418 908 518.
