Matsue
Matsue is the capital city of
Shimane Prefecture which
situated in the south-west of
Honshu, Japan's largest island.
The city has the 7th largest lake
in Japan which is called Lake
Shinji and the city is surrounded
by the beautiful nature. It is
clean and quite safe city. Also,
Matsue City had developed into
Matsue castle town.
The castle was built 400 years
ago, and is one of the few
remaining original castles in
Japan, and the castle town
retains the atmosphere and the
buildings of those years. Matsue
is rich in tourist spots, local
delicacies, and unchanged
traditional culture.
Tourist City
As Shimane has one of the longest
histories among the prefectures in
Japan,
many historical buildings remains in
existence; such as Matsue Castle,
Izumo grand shrine (National Treasure),
and Iwami-Ginzan silver mine (the
World Heritage Site).
In addition, you can find unique
traditional events, festivals and
performances which have been handed
down for generations.
Abundant foods
With nature unspoiled, Matsue is rich
in products of the sea and of the
mountains.
The people are tenderhearted and
welcome visitors with a variety of longinherited regional cuisine made from
local fresh products.
Not only fresh foods but also Izumosoba (Buckwheat noodle) and wagashi
(Japanese confectionary) are wellknown local specialties.

Daikonshima.
Taking the peony as its predominant symbol,

Okayama
Okayama City is one of 20 governmentdesignated cities in Japan and it is called
“Sunny City” because its climate is mild
and equable. Thanks to the train and
expressway networks of all directions, it is
a very convenient point to travel to Kansai,
Hiroshima, Kyushu, Sanin, and Shikoku.
It is of course a very attractive city for sightseeing as
there are Korakuen Garden which is one of the 3 most
beautiful gardens in Japan, Kibiji which still remains the
shadow of the ancient Kibi kingdom, and the worldfamous art sites on the islands of Seto Inland Sea.
Okayama City is also known as “Fruit Kingdom” as there
is plenty of delicious fruit and seafood from the sea.

Bonsai Gardens in Kinashi area
Kinashi and Kokubunji area in Takamatsu is the 80% producer of pine tree
in Japan and there are many bonsai nurseries and gardens.
Usually bonsai trees are taken from the mountains, but the owners of
these nurseries raise bonsai trees from the seeds. It is said that this way is
ecological.
