December 2016
STAKEHOLDER NEWS BRIEF
Moving the Mission
Gordon Smith
With the festive feel in the air,
there is certainly excitement at the
IGP Institute as we celebrate the
closing of an outstanding year. I am
proud to share with you that the
IGP Institute experienced recordbreaking numbers with a total of
2,001 participants from 67 countries
trained in 80 courses.
The growth that we’ve experienced is the direct result
of our IGP team led by Brandi Miller, associate director.
Brandi and Trina Adams worked hard to grow our distance
offerings breaking the 1,000-participant mark. Carlos
Campabadal, Jay O’Neil and Shawn Thiele have led their
curriculum areas to new places by expanding course
offerings and garnering increased grant funding. The
communications team of Kelly Hannigan, Pat Hackenberg
and Lisa Moser have done a fabulous job spreading the
IGP Institute training information to prospective clients.
Lisa Long made sure the courses ran seamlessly as she
planned events. And finally, our business manager Naaz
Yasmin continued to keep our financial house in order. It is
exciting for me to be leading such an outstanding group of
professionals who continue to move our mission forward.
In the Spotlight
• Farm Manager in Colombia.
• Participant in the USSEC Risk
Management Latin America
training.
Juan Esteban Mejia
“It would be good for our companies in Colombia to learn
from this training and explore the possibility of not taking
on so much risk. Right now we are always in the market. It
has been beneficial to see how the whole network works.”
Working on behalf of our stakeholders in December,
Carlos Campabadal led the offering for the U.S. Soybean
Export Council Risk Management Latin America course.
We hosted nine Colombian industry professionals.
Also, Brandi Miller traveled to Puerto Rico to speak at the
Caribbean Millers’ Association annual conference. Carlos
traveled to Mexico on behalf of USSEC.
Our communications team has been focusing their efforts
on finalizing the IGP Institute’s 2016 Year in Review. This
year’s publication will highlight a variety of topics from
our outreach and partnerships to various courses held at
the IGP Institute.
As I draw this letter to a close on behalf of the IGP
Institute team, I want to wish you a safe and happy
holiday season ahead. Please know that we truly value
your support and look forward to planning great programs
with you in 2017.
Sincerely,
Gordon Smith
