Club Shirts
We are in the final stages of ordering new club shirts.
The 2 pictures show the opons but we think that both
would go together and sll keep the club theme. Ladies’ sizes go from 8 to 16 and the men’s sizes are S to
4XL. All sizes are available in either colour.
The supplier also has a range of shorts/skirts/tops to go
with the shirts. We have 4 ladies’ and 4 men’s sizes as
samples so we should be able to get the right size
straight away.
Inially, the club will subsidise the shirts leaving you to
pay £10. Orders to Alan with payment as soon as possible please.
The company supplies shorts, skirts and tops to match and we can get 20% discount if ordered with the inial supply if shirts. For
details see hp://www.pbteamwear.co.uk/products/co-ordinated-ranges/pb-spiro-technical-range.html?p=1
To get the discount let Alan know as soon as possible.

Social
Aer a fantasc club barbeque and rounders match, it looks as though Cathy and Saeran have the
job for life. Many thanks to them and their band of helpers who did such a great job on the day
and also the hours of preparaon beforehand. Many thanks also to all the members who turned
out to take part, it would have been very lonely without you. Other than the organisers, Muriel
was a star rounders ba#er (is that the right word?), scoring thousands of rounders and eventually
helping her side to win the compeon.
The next extravaganza (my word not theirs) is “mulled wine and mince pies” from 5pm one Sunday
towards the end of December at the Hub. Aer that we are looking to organise a “party” evening,
possibly at East Horton Golf Club in January. Other events will be arranged and it would be great to
see another big turnout.
More details to follow or ask Cathy or Saeran whenever you see them.

Training
We will sll do ad hoc training, especially for the newer members to get them up to speed. Alternavely, you can
just ask advice on any aspect of the game and we will try to help wherever we can. The Hub is available from 23pm if we need to book a court for extra training.
For the 4 weeks in October, we have already booked courts so we can do some posioning training. We will use 1
court from 2pm ll 4pm to give us enough me to really get to grips with where we should be on the court.
With the league season coming up we need to get this sorted as soon as possible. Ideally you must be able to hit
the shu#le at least 3/4 of the court, so from the base line you must be able to reach at least half way along the
opposite court. This is fundamental when playing matches or compeve games to avoid seGng your opponent
up for an 'easy kill'.
The standard of the leagues, even in the lowest division, is such that it can become very demoralising for you and
your partner if you are spending most of the game just picking the shu#le up and passing it back due to a weak
return. This training is not just for team members as the same applies in club games and we are happy to help
those not able to hit the shu#le far enough to improve.
Although the training will encroach on court availability from 3pm-4pm for 1 court, there will be at least 6 members and 2 trainers involved so it won’t have an adverse effect overall on the number of games that the other
members will have during that me.
All the above training sessions are free and only available to club members, but must be booked in advance as
there is a limit on numbers. Please talk to Alan, Tracie or Gavin for more details.
Shu9le Care
Another gentle reminder that shu#les get ruined very quickly by flicking them across the floor to the opposite court.
If the shu#le lands on your side of the net it is courteous, and expected, that you pick it up and pass it to your opponent at a sensible height (and speed) rather than 'whallop' it across the floor. It also makes the shu#les last longer
and keeps your fees down. If you are red of bending down to pick the shu#le up then take a couple of old shu#les
home and pracce picking them up from a hard floor surface using your racket; ask for a quick tutorial at the club.
Christmas Closure
The club will NOT be open on 27 December 2015.
Other than that we are playing throughout the season.
League Teams
Although no decision has been made yet, it is increasingly likely that we will only put 2 teams in the league
next year, staying with the Southampton and Winchester leagues and dropping the Waterside league. The
logiscs of organising 3 teams is difficult and we are not sure if there is enough enthusiasm for a third team.
If you have any quesons or want to put your name down for a possible league place please talk to Gavin or
put your name on the list any Sunday.
Team members will be chosen more on ability than other years and priority will be given to players taking the
training - see above.
