6 Commitments to Create a Safe and Exceptional Workplace
1. Know your employees not just as employees, but as people

Take time to get to know your employees outside of work

Each employee is unique and has their own specific needs
2. Create an environment of trust, safety and compassion

Take ownership and pride in creating a safe and respectable work environment

Ensure that your actions are matching your words
3. Look beneath the actions

Avoid an automatic reaction

Ask yourself what is driving the individuals behavior
4. Act on the warning signs

Say and do everything in the moment so that you don’t ever look back thinking you
should have done more

Manage reasonable suspicions in accordance with your company policy
5. Open your door, and when they speak make sure to listen

I don’t mean to pry, but I just wanted to let you know that I am concerned about you, and
I would be happy to listen if you ever need to talk

Nobody needs to be fixed, but the value of being seen and heard is immeasurable
6. Be aware of local resources

Provide various resources and direct the person accordingly

Avoid holding their hand, and allow them to walk through the doors on their own
