Stage 2 water restrictions Stage 2 water restrictions apply Residential customers Gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can at any time, on any day. Watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am and 6pm and 8pm on alternate watering days. Alternate watering days Customers with even street numbers or no numbers can only water their gardens on dates with even numbers (e.g. April 2). Customers with odd street numbers can only water their gardens on dates with odd numbers (e.g. April 3). All customers can water their gardens on the 31st of each month. and 8pm on alternate watering days, or with an automatic top-up system in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Lawns and grassed areas Cars, boats and other vehicles Must not be watered at any time. Newly laid drought resistant turf or warm season grasses can be watered for 28 days using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle after lodging an exemption request. Vehicles can be cleaned using a high pressure hose, commercial car wash, bucket or watering can filled directly from a tap. Boat motors can be flushed using a container filled by a hand-held hose or a flushing device connected to a hose. Pools and spas Pools and spas can be filled or topped up using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can between 6am and 8am and 6pm Hard surfaces and paved areas Must not be cleaned with drinking water except in cases of emergency or where a health or safety hazard exists. A high pressure water cleaner can be used for construction or renovation works. Building façade and windows Can be cleaned using a bucket filled directly from a tap. Fountains or water features Can operate provided water is recirculated, but must not be filled or topped up. Ponds or lakes A new pond or lake must not be filled. If an existing pond or lake sustains aquatic fauna and/or bird life, it can be filled or topped up with Barwon Water approval. Water toys Water toys that use a hose and running water must not be used at any time. Public customers Public lawns Must not be watered at any time. Public gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can at any time, on any day. Watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am and 6pm and 8pm on alternate watering days. Sportsgrounds Particular playing surfaces (including turf wickets, golf tees and greens, lawn tennis courts and bowling greens) can be watered with a handheld hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can at any time, on any day. Watering systems can be used to water particular playing surfaces between 6am and 8am and 6pm and 8pm on alternate watering days. General playing surfaces (including sports ovals and golf courses, other than particular playing surfaces above) must not be watered unless specifically approved by Barwon Water. Ponds or lakes A new pond or lake must not be filled. If an existing pond or lake sustains aquatic fauna and/or bird life, it can be filled or topped up with Barwon Water approval. Fountains or water features Can operate provided water is recirculated, but must not be filled or topped up. Municipal pool or spa Can be filled or topped up using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, automatic top-up system or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Rural customers Dams or tanks Commercial car washes Can operate if no more than 100 litres of water per car is used (for car washes built prior to July 1, 2012) or no more than 70 litres of water per car is used (for car washes built on or after July 1, 2012) or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Motor vehicle dealers Vehicles can only be cleaned on alternate watering days using a high pressure water cleaning device, commercial car wash, bucket filled directly from a tap or in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Mobile spas Mobile spas can be filled with drinking water in accordance with a Barwon Water approved Water Use Plan. Water tankers Must not be filled or topped up without Barwon Water approval, except for domestic purposes, fire fighting, public health or safety of stock. Can be filled or topped up only if supplying water to be used inside a dwelling, for fire fighting, stock watering, construction, dust suppression or other public health purpose. Commercial customers Food transport vehicles Commercial lawns The interior can be cleaned using a high pressure water cleaning device or hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle if necessary to ensure public health and safety. Must not be watered at any time. Commercial gardens Can be watered using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can at any time, on any day. Watering systems can be used to water gardens between 6am and 8am and 6pm and 8pm on alternate watering days. Commercial market gardens or plant nurseries Specific restrictions also apply to: • dust suppression • construction • animal husbandry • poultry farms. Breaches to Stage 2 water restrictions will incur fines. Can be watered with drinking water using a hand-held hose fitted with a trigger nozzle, bucket or watering can at any time, on any day.
