the Eucharist on a regular basis to those confined to their homes.
Please call the Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM is celebrated on most Sundays at
1:30 PM (not during Lent). A family must be registered in the
parish, attend the baptismal preparation class, and cooperate
with the regulations established by the parish. Our baptismal class
is held on the 1st Monday of the month at 8:00 PM. Please call
the Parish Center to register any time during your pregnancy.
THE SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION is celebrated on Saturday
between 11:30 AM and 12:30 PM in the Chapel or by appointment.
THE SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION is celebrated once a year by
our Bishop or his delegate. A candidate must successfully
complete our Religious Education program. Adult Confirmation is
held at the Cathedral and any interested adults should contact the
Parish Center.
THE SACRAMENT OF THE SICK is administered at home to any
Catholic who is seriously ill. Please call the Parish Center. Any
parishioner admitted to a local hospital should contact the
Catholic Hospital Chaplain through the hospital. A family member
should contact the parish when someone is admitted to the
hospital. We will gladly pray for any members who are sick,
whether at home or in the hospital, at our Sunday Masses;
however, it is necessary for the family to “request” it.
THE SACRAMENT OF MATRIMONY is celebrated by the Pastor or one
of our deacons. Weddings may be scheduled on Friday evening,
Saturday, or Sunday afternoon. Only a ceremony is permitted on
Sunday. The pastor will confirm the date so couples should contact
the Parish Center at least ONE YEAR in advance. All the necessary
information will be sent to you. The attendance at Pre-Cana or an
Engaged Encounter Weekend is required. One must be a registered
member of the parish. Our parish upholds the Gospel values and the
Church’s teachings regarding the sacredness of marriage and those
couples choosing to live together in contradiction of those values, will
receive a simple ceremony and all Diocesan regulations followed.
THE SACRAMENT OF HOLY ORDERS and RELIGIOUS LIFE: If you are
considering serving God as a priest, deacon, or religious, you may

INTENTIONS OF OUR HOLY FATHER
We are invited to unite with our Holy Father,
Pope Francis, for these intentions during the
month of June:
Universal: That the aged. marginalized, and
those who have no one may find—even within
the huge cities of the world—opportunities for encounter and
solidarity.
For Evangelization: That seminarians and men and women
entering religious life may have mentors who live the joy of
the Gospel and prepare them wisely for their mission.
“For you were called to
freedom, brothers and sisters.
But do not use this freedom as
an opportunity for the flesh;
rather serve one another through love.”
We like to celebrate the fact that we are free to “live the
good life.” But Jesus calls us to a different kind of
freedom. St. Paul reminds us that Jesus sets us free so
that we can serve one another, share our gifts and
promote God’s work here on earth to glorify His name
and not honor ourselves.
The Collection for June 19 will be reported in next
week’s bulletin due to scheduling.
NO COUNTING TEAM ASSIGNED JULY 3RD
FOR THE FORTH OF JULY WEEKEND
FATIMA STATUE
This week the statue of Our Lady of Fatima will be in the
home of the Rubio Family.
MEDITATION FOR
June 26, 2016
Words are not enough when it
comes to committing
ourselves to the mission of
Jesus.
Jesus was hard on people
who claimed they wanted
to follow Him, but then
gave excuses for putting
off their commitment.
What are we using as an excuse for not giving our all to
and for Jesus? What will it mean to our way of life if we
do give our all to and for Him?
In today’s first reading, Elisha is called to succeed Elijah
as prophet. He immediately kills his oxen and burns his
plow in order to follow Elijah. The second reading from
Galatians reminds us that Christ has set us free from the
yoke of the law and slavery to sin. In the Gospel, Jesus
rebukes would-be followers for putting other needs and
concerns ahead of His mission.

OUTREACH MINISTRY
It is very difficult for those in need to come
to us for help. It is even harder to say we
can’t help because of lack of funds.
(Envelopes are in the Gathering Area of the Church).
This weekend is the
last time the Folk
Group sings at Mass
until the fall. On
Corpus Christi the
Parish Choir and
Chime
Choir
finished until the fall. On Pentecost the Handbell Choir,
Children’s and Youth Choirs finished until the fall. Well
done good and faithful servants! Enjoy your time off.
All musical groups are looking for parishioners who can
sing and/or play instruments. If you have any questions
or wish to register: please contact the Music Director at
732-297-3000 or Email: [email protected] .
The choirs meet from September through June (October
– June for the Children’s & Chime choirs). There will be
additional registrations in the fall as well. THANK
YOU ALL FOR SHARING YOUR TALENTS WITH
THE PARISH!
As this couple prepares to meet Christ in the Sacrament
of Matrimony, let us pray that their love will grow in
Him.

ATTENTION LADIES—A NEW WOMEN’S
RETREAT
A new women’s retreat is coming your way! As Summer
is ending and Fall is on its’ way, the kids are back in
school and the holidays are weeks away, take the
opportunity to spend some time for yourself at the Jersey
shore on Retreat. The weekend retreat will be Friday
evening, September 30 to Sunday afternoon, October 2 at
St. Joseph’s by the Sea in Mantoloking, NJ, a beautiful
house on the beach run by the Religious Teachers
Filippini, which is fully air-conditioned, featuring 22
private rooms with full bath accommodations between
rooms.
The retreat theme is “Footsteps in the Garden”, a
reflection on what God is doing and has done in your life.
The presenter is Paulette Cicero, a certified Spiritual
Director and retreat facilitator as well as a mother of 2
and grandmother of 6. Parts of the retreat will include
guided meditation, talks, sharing in large & small groups
and Mass on Saturday evening.
Cost is $210 for the whole weekend or $75 for Saturday
only, with meals. Space is limited, so reserve your space
soon by calling Liz DeLuca at the Parish Office
(732)297-3000 or e mail to: [email protected].
A $100 deposit is required for the weekend or $40 for
Saturday only. Checks payable to St. Augustine of
Canterbury.
First priority will be given to Parish
Women, women from outside the parish are welcome if
space allows.
Come away with us, experience the beauty of the shore,
the serenity of the sea and refresh your spirit.
Have you ever wondered what can I do to follow Jesus Christ
and help the needs of others? Your thought is my schedule is
full and I cannot commit to volunteer on a regular basis. We
can help you fill that void and be part of our Ministry on your
terms. If you can spare about two hours or less twice a month
to help our seniors with transportation to and from doctor
appointments. We work around your availability and time. I
promise it is a rewarding feeling to see the gratitude of those
you help. Some of our clients have no family, or their family
lives too far away to assist them. Can you give it a try with no
obligation or schedule to keep? You volunteer on your terms
and time.
For additional information, please call Dorothy Wiley at
732-297-2619.
The Catholic Church has
been promoting Natural Family Planning as the way to
follow God’s plan for achieving and/or avoiding pregnancy. It consists of ways to
achirve or to avoid pregnancy
using the physical means that
God has built into human
nature. This year’s National
NFP awareness week is July
24-30. The theme proposed by our Bishops’ Conference
is: “Love, Mercy, Life, Natural Family Planning, Opening the Heart of Marriage” “Celebrate and reverence
God’s vision of human sexuality”.
If you have any questions or wish to request a registration
form, call the Family Life Office at the Diocese:
(732) 562-1990 Ext. 1705.
Reservations for the NFP Course are accepted by mail
only, $100 fee must accompany the registration form.
