There has been some very welcome sunshine this week which has been enjoyed by all. Please ensure that in the run-‐up to the summer break, children bring sun hats and water bottles to school. There are a concerning number of children who have not brought a hat to school, and this is essential, even on days with cloud. Thank you to those parents also applying suncream before school. St Mary’s Mass th Our End of Year Mass will take place on Wednesday 7 July at 9.30am; we warmly welcome you and your family to attend. Pupil Chaplains I am delighted to inform you that some of our Year 4 children applied to be Pupil Chaplains within school recently. This is a programme run by the Diocese of Salford. Well done Scarlett, Isabelle, Charlotte, Cody, Ellie, Matthew, Tom and Jack who all took part in a Commissioning ceremony at Salford Cathedral last week. Also congratulations to our Associate Chaplains Ellise, Jacob, Zach and Monica. The Chaplains will now help prepare school masses, liturgies and assemblies, develop charity work, be available for spiritual and pastoral care of other pupils, liaise with Father Leo, share information in school about feast days and many others exciting opportunities. Thank you to Mrs Peat who has helped to set up and organise the Pupil Chaplaincy and to Mrs Elliott for assisting. Thank you to Mr Jones and Mrs Whalley for accompanying the children and for supporting them over the y ear. Greek Day in Venus Class! th As part of the Ancient Greece topic, on Friday 10 July the children in Venus class will be having an Ancient Greece Day. The children will be taking part in art activities such as creating theatre masks, writing their names in an ancient Greek style, sampling a range of Greek food, performing Greek plays and opening the classroom as a museum and theatre to other children in school. To celebrate everything that is Greece, we would like the children to come to school that day dressed in an Ancient Greek style. We are looking forward to enjoying this day with the children. Staff Car Park As you are aware, we ask that parents do not use the staff car park at any time (except for Disabled Blue Badge Holders) for Health and Safety Reasons. Unfortunately a car belonging to a member of staff has been damaged by another car manoeuvring on Tuesday after school. This is likely to have been an adult collecting a child from the netball tournament. If you own or are aware of which car was involved, please contact the school office. We urge all parents to continue to park safely in either the church car park or St Mary’s Drive, and we thank those parents who continue to show consideration in this matter.
