Community Consolidated School District 46 Park School Campus/East & West 400 West Townline Road • Round Lake • Illinois • 60073 Phone 847.201.7010 Fax 847.201.1971 Matt Melamed, Principal David Dinsmore, Assistant Principal February 10, 2017 Dear Park Parents and Guardians, During the week of February 13th, you are invited to meet your child(ren)’s teacher(s) during Parent Teacher Conferences. In order to arrange conference times that best meet the needs of all of our parents, students will be dismissed at 11:45am on Thursday, February 16th and there will be no school on Friday, February 17th. The teachers look forward to meeting with you regarding your child’s learning. In addition, there is no school on Monday, February 20th for Presidents’ Day. Throughout conference week, we will be hosting a student art fair. Student artwork will be posted throughout school and we encourage families to join us to view your child’s artwork before or after attending conferences. Additionally, we are pleased to announce that we have partnered with Foundation46, who is sponsoring several activities to enrich and enhance families’ experiences at Park School’s Art Fair and Parent-teacher conferences on February 16th from 6:00-7:30pm. Thanks to Foundation46, three great opportunities to visit, create, and learn about the arts will be provided. All three activities are planned to take place in the east foyer near the playground entrance. Families can listen to the Jim Jacob’s trio as they celebrate their child’s creative endeavors in the art fair. Next, join your child in the creative process while building a cardboard sculpture. And finally, watch Circus Kazoo’s Circus Stars Performance Troupe. The group has choreographed a short routine based on the literary smash hit Harry Potter, blending music, costumes, and circus skills. After their 6:00 performance, the audience will be invited to engage with Circus Arts equipment: stilts, tight wire, clowning, and juggling. Integrating visual art, narrative, and music is a powerful celebration of creativity and innovation. Foundation46 is committed to enriching and enhancing D46 students’ education by supporting events like these across CCSD46. Whether your parentteacher conference is scheduled for Thursday evening or earlier in the week, we hope you are able to join us for this fun and creative experience. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call. Sincerely, Matt Melamed David Dinsmore Visit us on the web @ http://ww2.d46.org/school-pc.asp Park School Campus Notes / Activities February 10, 2017 Valentine’s Day Parties & Treats: District 46 takes the well being of students very seriously. Due to the severity of allergies in the district, CCSD 46 has implemented a “No Food” celebration policy. Celebrations such as birthday and holiday parties (Halloween, Winter, Valentines, etc.) during the school day will be food free. Valentine’s Day is a fun time to share cards with friends. If you choose to include an item with your child's Valentines, please select non-food items. There are many Valentines that can be purchased that include a gift (i.e., pencil, erasers, bookmark, etc.) Here are some ideas for nonfood items if you choose to include something: pencils, erasers, stickers, plastic or rubber figurines, mini deck of cards, spinning top, or crazy straws. Yearbooks: Online Yearbook ordering information can be found on our school website. We are encouraging as many parents as possible to use the online ordering feature as it will allow us to better track student orders. Yearbooks cost $20 per copy. Please visit the Park Campus website or click on the following link to order: http://www.jostens.com/apps/store/customer/1755574/Park-School-Campus/ Kindergarten Registration for the 2017-2018 School Year: It's kindergarten registration time for children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1st, 2017! Parents of children who will be entering kindergarten at Community Consolidated School District 46 next year are invited to attend Kindergarten Meet and Greet, Tuesday, February 28, from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Parents and children should attend Park School Campus to meet kindergarten teachers, tour the school, and pick up registration information. K-4 Grade Recess Reminder: As the weather gets colder, please make sure your children have: hats, gloves, snow pants, boots, and winter coats. As weather permits, we will have outdoor recess. The blacktop provides an area for students to play that are dressed for the cold but not the snow. We will be outside for recess unless the wind chill drops below zero degrees. Arrival & Dismissal: Please continue to use south (K-5) and west (6-8 and older/younger siblings) lots for arrival and dismissal. It is a safety risk to drop-off or pick-up students in the east parking lot. By minimizing the number of people moving through the east parking lot at arrival and dismissal times we can ensure the safety of all students and keep the procession of cars moving as quickly as possible. Thanks for your continued assistance. Pond Safety Announcement: We have numerous ponds/retention ponds in our subdivisions and neighborhoods. All students need to be reminded that they must stay off the slowly forming and melting ice. The ponds are not meant for any winter activities. Thank you for your assistance. Visit us on the web @ http://ww2.d46.org/school-pc.asp Attention 8th Grade Parents: Our next graduation dance celebration meeting is scheduled for February 23rd at 6:30pm in the Media Center. We are looking for parents interested in helping plan this special event for the 8th graders. This celebration cannot happen without your help. If you would like to volunteer, but cannot attend the meeting, please email Jen Voss at [email protected] so your name can be added to our distribution list. Safety Procedure: As adults enter our facility and pass through our school office, we are scanning photo ID’s and printing a photo visitor’s badge. Please bring a photo ID every time you visit our school. This safety system has been instituted in each of our district’s schools and adds another layer of security for our students, parents, and staff. If you are volunteering, please allow a few extra minutes for this procedure.
