Spanish 7 - Fin de Para empezar/Principio de ¿Qué te gusta hacer?
Objectives: Students will be able to use a language other than English for communication.
Listening & Speaking: Day One: Ball Toss activity – to be used with vocabulary words and
phrases. This can also be used in a question/answer format. Day Two: Unit Test Day Three:
Unit Test & Vocabulary Rehearsal (Verbal Repetition) Day Four: Verbal Practice with Ball Toss
Activity
Reading & Writing: (used for socializing, providing & acquiring information, expressing personal
feelings & opinions, and getting others to adopt a course of action). Day One: The students will
be able to share personal information about themselves, ask others about themselves, and
share everyday information such as the weather, time, and date. Day Two: Unit Test Day
Three: Unit Test/Vocab Day Four: The students will be able to express personal interest in
activities on vocabulary sheet using Me gusta… & No me gusta…
Students will develop cross-cultural skills and understandings.
Listening & Speaking: Students will share favorite activities from their city/country assigned
during the last unit. Students will be able to express likes and dislikes as if they lived there.
They will also be able to ask if others enjoy certain activities from the vocabulary list.
Reading & Writing: Students will be able to find relevant information on favored sports and
activities in their assigned city/country.

Do Now: How would you categorize each of the following questions? Students will put
8 questions from different parts of the unit into three categories: La hora y la fecha, el

Review of homework review packet from Friday. (5 minutes)

Para empezar Review Sheet recommended by Sra. Storminger. It reviews greetings,
numbers, parts of the body, asking how somebody is, classroom objects, and how to ask
and tell time. The students will work on the sheets in pairs or individually and we will
review and clarify the sheet afterwards. (12 minutes to complete sheet; 5 minutes to
review)

Verbal Practice: Each of the students will stand up and the only way they can sit down is
to translate the word that I say. There will be two rounds: Round 1 will be Spanish 
English; Round 2 will be English  Spanish. (7 minutes)

Extra Back-Up Activity: Para empezar practice crossword with a variety of unit
vocabulary. The crossword will be pulled up on the Smart Board and we will fill it out as
a class. Practice Sheet P-10 from Practice Workbook. (7 minutes).

Passing out and Explanation of Practice homework sheet. It consists of ten questions
given in Spanish. They must be answered in Spanish. (3 minutes)

Students have a unit review test the next two days, Wednesday & Thursday.

Para empezar Unit Test Completion

Students that have finished their unit tests will be allowed to begin filling in the
definitions on their new unit vocabulary sheets. They may also be allowed to
complete their unit vocabulary flashcards.

Once all students have completed the test, they will finish the definitions on their
vocabulary sheets. (10 – 12 minutes)

Quick discussion that had to be cut last week on why the seasons are different in

these activities. There will be six pictures of vocabulary activities. The students will
have to say whether they like doing the activity or not. They will be allowed to use their

Activities 1A-1. (7 minutes)

Verbal practice of vocabulary, phrases, and infinitives using squishy ball. (5 minutes)

Pass out and explain homework assignments.
Homework: 1) Practice Workbook Sheet 1A-1. Students must identify the activity being
done in the picture and fill in the infinitive in the blank. They must also respond
whether or not they enjoy doing the activity. 2) Students will also research over the
weekend what people in their assigned cities/countries enjoy doing. They may answer
the questions in English. However, they must also state (as if they lived there) two
things they like to do and two they do not like to do (from their vocabulary list.)
