Literally translated "strained pineapple" probably coming
from fresh pineapple used in the drink. There are two
different claims to inventing the Pina Colada one from
the 1950s and the other from the 1960s, both claims are
from Bartenders from Puerto Rico and this has made the
Pina Colada the country's national drink.
The drink was supposedly invented by an American
mining engineer, named Jennings Cox, who was in
Cuba at the time of the Spanish–American War. It is
also possible that William A. Chanler, a US
congressman who purchased the Antiago Daiquiri
iron mines in 1902, introduced the daiquiri to clubs
in New York in that year. All we know is that its great
classic cocktail that we are happy to share with you.
This classic drink has probably the most origin
stories of any cocktail we know, could be named after
dances, singers, socialites or even royalty its
something we will never truly know. We prefer the
"Tommy's Margarita" and this story we know,
invented by Tequila legend Julio Bermejo at Tommy’s
Mexican Restaurant in San Francisco, California.
