Classroom procedures
Entry Routine: You will greet me at the door, in Spanish, as you enter the classroom each day. You will look
up at the whiteboard and follow the Bellringer directions, either completing the task on the board or picking
up a worksheet. You will sit down in your assigned seat and begin working on the Bellringer. The Bellringer
is designed to get your brain working in Spanish. It is usually a review of the content that was covered in
previous classes.
If you have a late assignment: If your assignment is not completed at the time I collect it, it will be considered
late. There will not be a penalty for the assignment being late, unless it is a project. However, late assignments
will only be accepted until the day of the unit test. After that time, the assignment will become a zero and
cannot be made up.
If you are absent: It is your responsibility to find out what you missed and make up any necessary work. Please
see me before or after school, during homeroom, or during my prep period (A1/B2) upon your return to school
or send me an email. Do NOT approach me right before class is going to start; it is not the appropriate time.
If you need to go to the Restroom/Locker: At the beginning of each semester each student will receive one
restroom pass for each week of the semester. These passes can be used to go to the restroom, get a drink, or
get something from your locker. If a student loses his or her passes, he/she will not be given another copy.
Students are responsible for keeping track of their own passes. If a student needs to exit the classroom more
than once in a week, or if they do not have a pass left for that week, a tardy will be issued to the
student. Unused restroom tickets can be turned in at the end of the semester and redeemed for extra credit
points. Please always ask permission!
Re-tests/re-quizzes: For each test and quiz you are given, there will always be an opportunity for a retake if
you are not happy with the score you’ve earned. The retake must be completed within a week’s time. You must
complete a “request to retest” form if you would like to take a retest. A retest will be granted to you, provided
that your form is completed and a retest is scheduled, all within a week’s time. The retake score will replace the
original test/quiz score. If you wish to retake a test or quiz, it will have to be done outside of class and you will
need to see me outside of class to schedule the retake.
Cell phones: Students will be asked to place their turned off cell phones in a bin at the start of class and will
then be able to collect them at the end of class. This will prevent students from using their cell phones during
class time, unless there is an activity which requires the use of cell phones. If a student chooses not to turn in
their cell phone and is caught using it later or it rings/vibrates/beeps during class, the phone will be confiscated
and it will result in a referral to Mrs. Murphy.
Computers: You are expected to bring your computer to class each day! It should be charged! If you do not
bring your computer or it is not charged and you are unable to participate in the activity I have planned, you
will lose half of your daily participation points (3.5/5 or on C days 1.5/3).
Exit Routine: You will leave when I dismiss you. Please do not start packing up your things a few minutes
before class is over. Please do not line up at the door. If the bell rings and we are in the middle of something
you will not get up and leave. Again, I will dismiss you, not the bell.
Classroom Expectations:

Come prepared. This means:
a. Bring all of your materials to class each day
i. A notebook or binder (with loose-leaf paper) to be used only for Spanish class
ii. A folder or binder to be used only for Spanish class
iii. A pen or pencil
iv. Completed homework when it is due
b. Have a positive attitude
c. Be ready to work and have fun!

Participate. This means:
a. Take part in whole class, partner, and group activities
b. Be an active member of the class-it is the only way you’re going to learn!
c. Give me 100% at all times!
3.
Speak Spanish! This means:
a. Check your English at the door
b. Know that it’s okay to make mistakes
c. Be proud of your ability to use another language! Show it off!
4. Be respectful to each other and to me. This means:
a. Be kind to one another
b. Use common sense
c. Keep an open mind
5. Follow classroom rules. This means:
a. Know and follow classroom procedures
b. Water is acceptable. No other food or drink allowed.
c. Cheating is strictly prohibited. If you are caught cheating you will earn a zero.

In Spanish class you should be working on Spanish, not class work for other classes. If you are
working on other class work in my classroom without my approval, I will take it from you and
you will have to retrieve it from the teacher whose class it is for.

Objectives for Español II:
Students will be able to do the following by the end of Spanish II:
Review and use the present tense to talk about daily activities
Form numbers from 100-1000 and beyond
Describe family members physically and personality-wise
Make comparisons between people/things
Review the verb “gustar” to talk about their likes/dislikes and use other “verbs like gustar”
Understand how to form and use stem-changing verbs
Use irregular “yo” verbs
Express their wants using the verb “querer”
Know when to use “ser” vs. “estar”
Know when to use “saber” vs. “conocer”
Describe daily routines (using reflexive verbs)
Use direct/indirect object pronouns and double object pronouns
Form the present progressive tense to talk about things that are happening “right now”
Use the regular preterite tense to talk about things they’ve done in the past
Use affirmative and negative “tú” commands to tell others to do/not to do things
Read, understand, and discuss a short novel written completely in Spanish
