ASD iSchool Course Request Form
Spring 2017
Visit ASD iSchool online at http://www.asdk12.org/schools/asdischool/pages/
ASD iSchool establishes high expectations for student success. To support student success and maintain instructional progress,
students are required to submit assignments in their course on a weekly basis and to maintain regular contact with their instructors.
•
•
•
Any student who does not make progress in the course for a period of 14 days without prior arrangements with the instructor
will be contacted in order to reconnect the student with the instructor and the course.
The parent will also be contacted if the student does not make progress in the course for a period of 14 days without prior
arrangement with the instructor.
Failure to respond to attempts to contact the student and parent, or failure to make regular progress in the course may result in
withdrawal from the course with a withdraw failing (W/F) grade.
Student Agreement: Students are expected to agree to the following as part of the registration process. Semester begins January 16th
and ends May 24h.
I acknowledge that during the first 20 school days (4 weeks) of being activated in an ASD iSchool course I may drop the course
without penalty. I understand that for each online course there are a minimum number of assignments that must be completed each
week. Failure to submit the minimum number of assignments on a weekly basis may result in my removal from the course and may
result in a failing grade being assigned to my academic transcript. If I drop the course after the drop deadline, I understand that I may
receive a withdraw failing (W/F) grade on my transcript.
Student Code of Conduct
Internet access is required for all ASD iSchool students. Internet access must be used in a responsible, safe, efficient, ethical, and legal
manner. Access to electronic information may result in the availability of inappropriate material. Although it is impossible to control
such misuses, with responsible use, the benefits of the Internet as an educational tool outweigh the negatives. Partnering with parents
to teach responsible Internet use is a valuable learning opportunity for our students.
Please review the following netiquette rules and ASD iSchool expectations carefully:
•
•
•
•
•
•
•
Students are responsible for good behavior in all ASD iSchool courses, just as they are in a traditional school building. It is
expected the students will use the computer in a way that shows consideration and respect. It is against school policy to use
obscene, profane, threatening, or disrespectful language.
Academic integrity and authenticity of student work is taken very seriously. Do not cut, copy, or plagiarize Internet content
or the work of your online classmates. ASD iSchool instructors utilize technologies to check for authenticity. Copying,
knowingly allowing others to copy from you, and/or misusing Internet content could result in removal from ASD iSchool
courses.
Security is a high priority. If you identify a security problem, please notify ASD iSchool staff.
Email is not private. Use email appropriately in course communication with students and staff. Never say anything via email
that you wouldn't mind seeing on the school bulletin board or in the local newspaper.
Beware of emails from anyone, particularly adults you don’t know, asking for personal information, attempting to arrange
meetings, or engaging in personal contact. Alert your parent or teacher of any message you receive that is inappropriate or
makes you feel uncomfortable.
Email with your online classmates should be course-related. Do not send unsolicited email to your online classmates.
Email addresses that use profanity or may be construed as offensive, shall not be permitted for course login or ASD iSchool
correspondence. ASD iSchool Administration reserves the right to determine if student email addresses are inappropriate.
Students will be asked to use an alternative email address or be refused course access if their email address is deemed
inappropriate.
Protect your password. Keep it secret from anyone except your parents.
Students and parents are responsible for Internet access and the associated costs.
Harassment and Cyber bullying: Harassment and Cyber bullying will not be tolerated and shall result in disciplinary action per the
ASD Student Handbook.
Athletic Eligibility: ASD iSchool grades are reported via Zangle and classes are included when calculating GPA for athletic
eligibility. It is recommended that student athletes closely follow pacing guides for their classes and keep up to date on their
assignment submissions.
NCAA approved courses: Many ASD iSchool online courses are NCAA approved. A current list of NCAA-Approved courses can
be downloaded from http://www.asdk12.org/ncaa/
