Sundays (if needed) - 1:00pm – 5:00pm
Course Fees (Due first night of class)
$550 – Class Tuition
**Montgomery Co EMS agencies will receive $100 discount**
We anticipate that the Virginia Office of EMS will offer another RSAF grant for initial course tuition
reimbursements for affiliated students who pass the course and obtain their EMT certification. Should
this grant be made available again, EMS agencies may apply for tuition reimbursement.

General Information
Description
This is a hybrid EMT course which will utilize the MyBradyLab online learning system. Students will
be expected to complete online assignments prior to the start of each class. By utilizing this method
of learning we are able to allocate more classroom time to hands on education.
Emergency Medical Technician (4 year certification)
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification program is designed to train an individual to
function independently in a medical emergency. This course provides the basic knowledge and skills
needed to deliver Basic Life Support (BLS) care and is required to progress to more advanced levels
of prehospital patient care.
Attendance Policy
Per Virginia Emergency Medical Services Regulations 12VAC5-31-1501:
A. Students must complete a minimum of 85% of the didactic and lab aspects of the course.
Students are only allowed to miss a total of four (4) classes (excused or unexcused). Any
student missing more than four (4) classes will be dropped from the course.
EMT Certification
To obtain a Virginia Emergency Medical Technician certification students must:

Successfully complete a Virginia Emergency Medical Technician initial course.
Successfully pass the Virginia Psychomotor Examination (practical exam administered at the Virginia
Consolidated Test Sites).
Successfully pass the National Registry Cognitive Examination (computer based testing administered at any
Pearson Vue Testing Center).
